The design is Fraidy Cat by Knotted Tree NeedleArt.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTpTOOrgDhC9skQnajz7UUFp_l9qV2MRJowUpV8iBUkyH99yqqeOM89n01LPXNPFGtyJSujAn4GE39CqSOa6OBh_fF7PJpsefdmjPLuyrbvDaOj2I8vQtkRcP4qVeda54lSAk34w/s1600/Smalls+Ornie+completed+7+26+15.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTpTOOrgDhC9skQnajz7UUFp_l9qV2MRJowUpV8iBUkyH99yqqeOM89n01LPXNPFGtyJSujAn4GE39CqSOa6OBh_fF7PJpsefdmjPLuyrbvDaOj2I8vQtkRcP4qVeda54lSAk34w/s320/Smalls+Ornie+completed+7+26+15.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I messed up the stitching in the cat and didn't realize it until I went to put in the bottom border. I was off by one and the spacing wouldn't have looked right so I decided not to put in the top and bottom border as designed. I think it came out okay despite the mistake. <br />

I need to pick something for August and I'm leaning toward a Christmas ornament as I'm kind of tired of Halloween colors in my ort jar. Hopefully, I will keep some stitching momentum going and be able to have another finish in August.Casa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11547550587801035688noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15647083.post-27945247762208700202015-07-20T19:27:00.001-04:002015-07-20T19:27:58.753-04:00While I was on hiatus....I finished this pair of socks:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I started another pair. This is the first sock which is now finished and I'm at about the same point on the 2nd.<br />

I went to the <a href="http://www.fiberfrolic.com/" target="_blank">Maine Fiber Frolic</a> and bought some yarn. This is for me - I think for a shawlette. It was dyed and spun by <a href="http://www.ontheround.com/" target="_blank">ontheround</a>. <br />

This is for a gift. <a href="http://www.dirtywaterdyeworks.com/" target="_blank">Dirty Water Dye Works</a> destined to be a zigzag cowl thing. Five mini skeins in gradations of blue. My pictures are lousy because it was gloomy when I took them and I'm too lazy to retake them. I love being able to buy local Maine yarns.<br />

I fell off the stitching wagon again but I think I've climbed back on. I started this in May as my May 2015 Smalls project. I didn't finish it nor did I stitch one for June nor for July so far so this may end up as July's entry. This is where I left it in May:<br />

This is where it is as of yesterday after meeting Barbara in Belfast. I think seeing her projects kick started my interest in picking up a tiny needle again.<br />

Summer was slow in coming to Maine this year and we've only had a handful of truly warm days. I hope there will be more before summer ends. I hope you're enjoying your own version of summer.Casa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11547550587801035688noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15647083.post-92118423767054089332015-05-03T16:49:00.001-04:002015-05-03T16:49:08.621-04:00March and April 2015 Smalls SAL projectsI realize it's May and I'm way behind but I figured I needed to share these photos to show that I've actually been doing a little bit of stitching even thought I've not been blogging at all.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
First up is my 2015 March Smalls SAL project. This was a quick stitch that I modified slightly in that I did not include a year which was shown in the chart. I was lucky enough to have two of these little black frames in my stash and it was easy to pop the little design in. Definitely my fastest finishing project so far!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjByUBrjcBi6bkJche9bafPP6xq2IU6I79QMrI7B6ANpH8pROgzbny6KFwqhoWqhY9s2Hn3bnu8hjcVQjuy_Lme3hsCW46-_x3YYfDA05RSQQ7B6vIPQ6FAWyFzjhH5JBmI8jhSlw/s1600/Ready+to+Finish.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjByUBrjcBi6bkJche9bafPP6xq2IU6I79QMrI7B6ANpH8pROgzbny6KFwqhoWqhY9s2Hn3bnu8hjcVQjuy_Lme3hsCW46-_x3YYfDA05RSQQ7B6vIPQ6FAWyFzjhH5JBmI8jhSlw/s1600/Ready+to+Finish.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
Next up for April was a design from <a href="http://grillesdemaryse.canalblog.com/" target="_blank">Les grilles des Maryse</a>. This was a fun little stitch and I finished it as a pillow weight. I filled it with walnut shells and it's got a great feel to it. I used the backing fabric that was included with this little exchange kit and I am really happy with how it turned out. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitOYPAPf-e0Xr1ykG26jWGbGhYh3FuZB5uN-Nn9A5MmRq0ybmhHzV7DzR9ldcnkRvvE-oeiMZfMrDUKO3c0Vgg0t9ZV6RRZ8WjKSSPdwQ7pIXKpoXRWKpUTofZNQE53VpFluShfg/s1600/2+March+finished.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitOYPAPf-e0Xr1ykG26jWGbGhYh3FuZB5uN-Nn9A5MmRq0ybmhHzV7DzR9ldcnkRvvE-oeiMZfMrDUKO3c0Vgg0t9ZV6RRZ8WjKSSPdwQ7pIXKpoXRWKpUTofZNQE53VpFluShfg/s1600/2+March+finished.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
I'm pleased that I've been pretty close to keeping up with this SAL and I've now got 4 new little items to display for Halloween this year!<br /><br />
<br />Casa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11547550587801035688noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15647083.post-24098930551286697122015-03-01T19:33:00.003-05:002015-03-01T19:33:54.181-05:00March-ing AlongSo another month is gone and we're starting the 3rd month of 2015. Is anyone else freaked out by how quickly time is flying by? I don't like it!<br />
<br />
Last Thursday I took a class at Michael's - my first ever at the store. They had an Art Journaling course and I've been wanting to try this craft for a while. I've looked at some stuff on line and I have tons of supplies accumulated over the years so when I saw the blurb in their February class flier, I decided to sign up.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdjhJzLKgdfwmi4SctJhTVpTtg8r4qfKMW4uepQJlqnR9nQAeXM0pwgOtalYCj0_hvicbjjq7mqxfO1sbl4BaY6n7x8Xo2B9xh8c7e4HxIipcGdtjm7ps9FEZXOLTYhU_DJsWiaQ/s1600/Art+Journal+Cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdjhJzLKgdfwmi4SctJhTVpTtg8r4qfKMW4uepQJlqnR9nQAeXM0pwgOtalYCj0_hvicbjjq7mqxfO1sbl4BaY6n7x8Xo2B9xh8c7e4HxIipcGdtjm7ps9FEZXOLTYhU_DJsWiaQ/s1600/Art+Journal+Cover.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
It was very informal and the store manager was the instructor. There was one other lady beside myself there and it turned out to be a relaxing and fun way to spend a cold Thursday evening. Here is the start of my journal - the cover. In case you can't read the letters, the typewriter keys spell "change". <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNCEtJrQsQYCutGdibj6nI_NKjTcBH6ht9dZcfGhkSeyOZtciQTLXsqBUcDTKSf-WdTNBo0J2vd5iDfAEI3z-boiXrYzy1p96sUyk444cCTCUcPAkCeBCegSotAmba6EsAe5nU1A/s1600/BBD+Spell+of+the+Moon+3+1+15.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNCEtJrQsQYCutGdibj6nI_NKjTcBH6ht9dZcfGhkSeyOZtciQTLXsqBUcDTKSf-WdTNBo0J2vd5iDfAEI3z-boiXrYzy1p96sUyk444cCTCUcPAkCeBCegSotAmba6EsAe5nU1A/s1600/BBD+Spell+of+the+Moon+3+1+15.jpg" height="320" width="233" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
On the stitching front, I did start BBD Spell of the Moon which is one of the projects I kitted up in January. This is the tree and the start of the outside border. I hope to put some additional time into it tonight if I can stay away long enough!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii1rwtgDtxayXeKMnvUS8gBk45OzU0KSDD_-cHRBiqilXTDHxh_7NxlpcTbZcr3aaqyJEf1vTMAOUVt_CUQjDEpkqPU_khL-wIU66S1OUttWqRZDoPnJcQQE5mR760kR73Bs8Yfw/s1600/BBD+Spell+of+the+Moon.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii1rwtgDtxayXeKMnvUS8gBk45OzU0KSDD_-cHRBiqilXTDHxh_7NxlpcTbZcr3aaqyJEf1vTMAOUVt_CUQjDEpkqPU_khL-wIU66S1OUttWqRZDoPnJcQQE5mR760kR73Bs8Yfw/s1600/BBD+Spell+of+the+Moon.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
And also waiting on the horizon is a new crochet project. I'm going to attempt the Greenway afghan using some Caron Simply Soft and Bernat Satin yarn I had in my stash. It will match some throw pillows in my living room. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicxNtwHFMZEO6ZK5vl3Snu4ua7nLwXZLa7HwAiv1EbT8AbMz9AMrWCJ59rX4iFXbL_WCi7RjLk24-Rnl17A9FY8Rf42C9SuVjKXyX2JjM-l2w3PL67g3PRRAXCfQLSnfWnDxqI2Q/s1600/Greenway+Afghan+Colors.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicxNtwHFMZEO6ZK5vl3Snu4ua7nLwXZLa7HwAiv1EbT8AbMz9AMrWCJ59rX4iFXbL_WCi7RjLk24-Rnl17A9FY8Rf42C9SuVjKXyX2JjM-l2w3PL67g3PRRAXCfQLSnfWnDxqI2Q/s1600/Greenway+Afghan+Colors.jpg" height="320" width="301" /></a></div>
I'm still struggling with my crochet skills and this has a tricky for me pattern so I'm kind of avoiding starting it but I just need to start that chain and get it going. Worrying about not getting the pattern right has prevented me from starting.<br />
<br />
Thank you for visiting and I hope your weekend was a good one. It's on to another work week all to soon.<br />

This is another of the Halloween kits I have in my stash. It's smaller than last month's but since it was a short month and I had both a knitting and stitched gift to complete this month, I felt it was okay to stitch something a bit on the small side.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgpbxBMAcdi0kSlB8c1QkBqM3Vfz20GDeDZbEM3uexSXI-GZQ0LyNY1WK2EAK547gz5Xe2nQX7MCvU6d-rDzlULnp4MzvSBEdOFo96r1uLgcpUolVQfJ8QKReBG8AsVeocHIHIxA/s1600/2015+February+Smalls+stitched.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgpbxBMAcdi0kSlB8c1QkBqM3Vfz20GDeDZbEM3uexSXI-GZQ0LyNY1WK2EAK547gz5Xe2nQX7MCvU6d-rDzlULnp4MzvSBEdOFo96r1uLgcpUolVQfJ8QKReBG8AsVeocHIHIxA/s1600/2015+February+Smalls+stitched.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
I'm not sure on the fabric or floss details but it's a lovely hand-dyed purple with a variegated orange thread. I've lost the details if they were included in the package. The backing fabric also got lost so I used some from my stash. The design is Boo! by the Cross Eyed Cricket.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I did a simple twisted cord finish in two DMC colors pulled from my floss box. I was not as pleased with my finishing this time around as the bottom was wonky and I trimmed the edges much too close and the top left corner was fraying. Thank goodness this is for me and not a gift because it would have to be a do over.<br />

I have to say I'm really pleased I already have two finishes for display come Halloween! I am going to sort through the project bag with the remaining kits tonight and choose my next victim.<br /><br />
Thank you so much for stopping by and your comments on previous posts. I'm still not where I want to be with blog visiting and commenting but I'm trying! It's that "snow fatigue" thing....Casa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11547550587801035688noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15647083.post-23366682267798007362015-02-23T18:51:00.000-05:002015-02-23T18:51:50.905-05:00Late TUSAL Update & Trying to Stay PositiveSo I think I'm going to use "snow fatigue" as my excuse for no posts lately. But I did take an updated of my TUSAL (totally useless stitch a long) jar, which is now much cleaner than last month, which contains proof that I've been stitching so maybe snow fatigue is not such a bad thing (yeah right....).<br />

New for this month was lots of red from the HIH Collectors Heart I stitched for my sister which went out in the mail today (her birthday!) and orange from my February smalls choice which I can't show until later this week.<br />

Here is the heart finished. My sister opted to frame it local to her so I sent it out as is. She seemed very pleased with it.<br />

As you are aware, my neck of the woods has had an exceptionally cold and snowy last few weeks and its really been tough to not bury myself in a snow bank in despair. So when I saw this lovely frost gift on my window on Valentine's Day, I decided to try and capture the incredible beauty that Mother Nature gifts us with if only we can see it. To me it's like a tree of life in ice.<br />

And for a final taste of what we've been having, here are some photos of a window on the 2nd floor of one of the hospital's I work at. I considered it my own mini-Alps. It's a good thing I took the photos when I did because it's all been shoveled off now.<br />

I can't wait for it to all go away - overnight with no messy thawing, refreezing, ugly mud season please!Casa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11547550587801035688noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15647083.post-51353225039713051022015-02-02T18:11:00.000-05:002015-02-02T18:11:25.683-05:00January Smalls Update and Progress ReportI'm late in posting my January small but here it is. I finished the stitching on Tuesday morning during the blizzard we had and the finishing finishing on Saturday.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkYdxraKD6fgNSooXURaoNT_kLwI2EdgWwR8S_lmRFZ1gyBKnOiNs78t9XGy2nAGTb_6j66EyVI4gtWCdHYjwBZQM_L7Qw0_7ZBWTTg4j1NuP0nmQ3vHTJ0W6n-IlHMG8ddSig2w/s1600/2015+January+Smalls.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkYdxraKD6fgNSooXURaoNT_kLwI2EdgWwR8S_lmRFZ1gyBKnOiNs78t9XGy2nAGTb_6j66EyVI4gtWCdHYjwBZQM_L7Qw0_7ZBWTTg4j1NuP0nmQ3vHTJ0W6n-IlHMG8ddSig2w/s1600/2015+January+Smalls.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
The reason for the delay is that I wasn't sure how I wanted to finish this piece. It came with backing fabric and it could have been a pillow or hanging pillow but I decided I'd like a flat door hanger type finish that I could use for my front door.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ2vH0V9sG-onVgMDw33KiR9UoiLwmI1nkHTIAW_TWHBokDUe10pwDSpXOTc5qmzn0GkHTUIUfvOg9_v1qEPK2X5XKQHx5HdBLLDQ0dbQpZYR8TWt3HiZ1N7ceL4a0qbJrj-V7mQ/s1600/2015+January+Smalls+Finish.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ2vH0V9sG-onVgMDw33KiR9UoiLwmI1nkHTIAW_TWHBokDUe10pwDSpXOTc5qmzn0GkHTUIUfvOg9_v1qEPK2X5XKQHx5HdBLLDQ0dbQpZYR8TWt3HiZ1N7ceL4a0qbJrj-V7mQ/s1600/2015+January+Smalls+Finish.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Luckily, I had a gorgeous piece of orange wool in my stash and some fun trim. The piece came together pretty easily and I'm happy with how it turned out.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPpkxpRcZreHTqr7bP-MBu44x_C8isB42L9MHsDIHuvNEmlrsmKsqcjdzIymokfwzHFheY4_xz17ryQK-f7a-M-XDBEdrnaL1Nkr69M_3hd5za2SouO1YZMcO_97N2KwEMSni2vw/s1600/Lowbrow+Cowl+1+31+15.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPpkxpRcZreHTqr7bP-MBu44x_C8isB42L9MHsDIHuvNEmlrsmKsqcjdzIymokfwzHFheY4_xz17ryQK-f7a-M-XDBEdrnaL1Nkr69M_3hd5za2SouO1YZMcO_97N2KwEMSni2vw/s1600/Lowbrow+Cowl+1+31+15.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I found that with several projects going, it didn't feel like I was making a lot of forward progress. I have also been working to finish this cowl for my niece so that she can get some use out of it before winter passes. At the rate we're getting snow storms, she's gonna get a lot of use out of it!<br />
<br />
I have also made some progress on the HIH Collector's Heart for my sisters birthday and I will show you that and the February smalls project I picked out for that SAL.<br />
<br />Casa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11547550587801035688noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15647083.post-72276693327538464622015-01-20T18:51:00.001-05:002015-01-20T18:51:31.110-05:00First 2015 TUSAL PostBy the looks of my TUSAL jar for January, I'm not doing enough stitching! This is pitiful looking isn't it?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiRSg1tKQX1vi_7DWGHBy4n_12yIxJkdQ5jXqRfguqHY3vqlXRGq3YaCVEJK7chQLMWPmY81LulT-RMEK0cbw4vL9Ri683g8NWs4jpdTqkbmsV27Oj8I2YmIeXnMBQ5x13g9JOcA/s1600/January+Tusal.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiRSg1tKQX1vi_7DWGHBy4n_12yIxJkdQ5jXqRfguqHY3vqlXRGq3YaCVEJK7chQLMWPmY81LulT-RMEK0cbw4vL9Ri683g8NWs4jpdTqkbmsV27Oj8I2YmIeXnMBQ5x13g9JOcA/s1600/January+Tusal.JPG" height="320" width="196" /></a></div>
And to make it even worse, my jar needs a good washing. This tells you how dark my living room is because I didn't realize how bad the jar was until I brought it into the office to photograph!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-LJPc2VoXkLrJ2mGajs4Mao2AwK0kyU2QTh8evi1u5hLLtvBsSSdU55VbM8d0OXmDYdhcKVcF9qqnCZ1nF6rNdf7gKApQlyRJAOTGjRzSwx0fDC5VMke2XLnsYbxEapJGG2hyphenhyphenXg/s1600/1.20.15+Tusal.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-LJPc2VoXkLrJ2mGajs4Mao2AwK0kyU2QTh8evi1u5hLLtvBsSSdU55VbM8d0OXmDYdhcKVcF9qqnCZ1nF6rNdf7gKApQlyRJAOTGjRzSwx0fDC5VMke2XLnsYbxEapJGG2hyphenhyphenXg/s1600/1.20.15+Tusal.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
I'm going to work harder at filling it up so next month's photo should be less dusty and much more robust. I hope you are filling your jar up with lots of stitching orts.<br />

I wanted to wear a skirt suit to work today. It was -12 when I left for the office at 6:15 for an early meeting. I decided that my tights probably weren't enough so I put my long johns on over those, wool socks, my great winter boots and my dog walking coat (think puffy down) and off I went. Thank goodness for my seatwarmers in the car. Best invention ever!<br />
<br />
I may have been a fashion don't but I didn't get frost bite either! I really hope this arctic turn of the temperature goes back north where it came from really, really, really soon.<br />

I did make a start on my Heart in Hand piece but didn't get too far on Monday. It's been a crazy buzy week back and I've been quite tired after work. I've also been trying to get my scarf for the upcoming Maine Special Olympics done so stitching has taken a back seat to crochet this week.<br />

Tonight at knit night, I started weaving in the ends so that it wouldn't all have to be done at the end. I'm off to put a few more rows before crashing into bed. TGIF tomorrow - yeah!<br />
<br />
I plan to do some serious blog hopping this weekend to see what you all have started for the new year. I know there are some crazy challenges going on so I'm guessing there will be a lot of things to see.Casa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11547550587801035688noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15647083.post-11255648516780743912015-01-05T19:39:00.001-05:002015-01-05T19:39:30.019-05:00PS Welcome UpdateI went to visit a friend in Connecticut for the weekend and didn't bother to take any stitching with me as I new I would probably not have any time to stitch and that was true. However, I did get home relatively early on Sunday and had some time in the evening to work on my Plum Street "Welcome" ornie. The crow's tale is done and I've started in on the upper half of the body. <br />

Not sure if I will pick this up again tonight as I feel the need to make a start on the HIH heart I want to get done for my sister's birthday. <br />
<br />
I hope those of you experiencing this arctic weather blast are keeping warm. The dog (unfortunately) did not seem to mind it tonight and I forced myself to go back out to the gym but I'm glad for my warm down coat! These are the temps that make me long for Florida again.Casa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11547550587801035688noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15647083.post-66325870979150781272015-01-02T08:02:00.001-05:002015-01-02T08:02:38.198-05:00THE Ohio State<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

THE Ohio State rolled the Tide last night and although I'm a huge fan of the Crimson Tide, I'm a very proud member of Buckeye Nation so I had to root for my alma mater last night. So very happy for such a talented and hard working football team! On the the next one....<br /><br />Casa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11547550587801035688noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15647083.post-8275155964725093232015-01-01T17:59:00.003-05:002015-01-01T17:59:51.252-05:002015 New Year Greetings and 2015 Stitching PlansI didn't stay up to see the new year in - did you? I spent some time sorting through my stash to come up with what projects I wanted to start off 2015 with. After that I tried to get engaged in some bowl game football but ended up going to bed by 10:00pm. <br />
<br />
Here's what I came up with for project starts for January. I signed up for the <a href="http://stitchinglotus.ca/2015-sal/" target="_blank">2015 Smalls SAL</a> after seeing it on <a href="http://stitchbitch.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Anna's blog</a> and I knew right away what smalls I was going to focus on. A couple of years ago, a private group I stitch with did a kitted ornament exchange for both Christmas and Halloween and I have not touched any of those kits. This will be the year I focus on getting some of them completed, starting with Halloween.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0WaSBTiqfvy3hyphenhyphenm0qtDphuvUsvfKrEGmUfIFX_LekRDV7YGfE6ZPI9QPPw_sw38cg1e43Hu2sn0PkXlBi_JXDRyp-EEeh_St5TrdDJviqN5ixj2ing3kimc0VNwKxmyS909Recg/s1600/Plum+Street+Welcome.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0WaSBTiqfvy3hyphenhyphenm0qtDphuvUsvfKrEGmUfIFX_LekRDV7YGfE6ZPI9QPPw_sw38cg1e43Hu2sn0PkXlBi_JXDRyp-EEeh_St5TrdDJviqN5ixj2ing3kimc0VNwKxmyS909Recg/s1600/Plum+Street+Welcome.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
My January small will be Plum Street's Welcome and despite a busy day cooking, cleaning and putting away my Christmas decorations, I have a few stitches in.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9iNwFi2hyphenhyphenMiyWhj01GMU2u-baiFQ7FnLPTnodWQy4pmpdm2Pf5zWkP2Q7zgiGY6QUsgC0vPTfvzDADs75XlwQhxLQnI4Ldgjuyov0pySjR8CSMrFNHOCeHnUFrB3KEuFKPeWvtA/s1600/First+Start-Plum+Street+Welcome+1+1+15.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9iNwFi2hyphenhyphenMiyWhj01GMU2u-baiFQ7FnLPTnodWQy4pmpdm2Pf5zWkP2Q7zgiGY6QUsgC0vPTfvzDADs75XlwQhxLQnI4Ldgjuyov0pySjR8CSMrFNHOCeHnUFrB3KEuFKPeWvtA/s1600/First+Start-Plum+Street+Welcome+1+1+15.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
Next up is a gift for one of my sister's. She's always admired my finished 2002 Collector's Heart by HIH so I've kitted it up and probably should have started that first given her birthday is February 23rd. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJeAJ-jJa8pCvX30hiImnuhPHJlAow1uEkdGflURlvicvp-1PZ3wiHVEXuRg5hcOyqEJKggY64uDnqVcKATueIgr48KfU8BEd6Hpo5gP2PDcd9n10vMI21ckh2TMUzaegB1gVu3w/s1600/HIH+2002+Collectors+Heart.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJeAJ-jJa8pCvX30hiImnuhPHJlAow1uEkdGflURlvicvp-1PZ3wiHVEXuRg5hcOyqEJKggY64uDnqVcKATueIgr48KfU8BEd6Hpo5gP2PDcd9n10vMI21ckh2TMUzaegB1gVu3w/s1600/HIH+2002+Collectors+Heart.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
I think my next choice was definitely influenced by Rite Aid as I went in to pick up a prescription on Monday and they were already stocking the shelves with Valentine's Day merchandise. Sheesh! I have very little Valentine's Day items stitched so I thought this little piece would fit the bill. It's Trilogy's Love Tree.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6wB2FQyVpoVeKcO4Iyhxmhwn_MloiKWjPqVXG_K4N71OvMWTgTpYje7Hrha_bpoRUfiPDae5WVR69ibh9Tg4Dyx-XkGsoczmmSKQg-TyDme41zr4RzwQbMnJB5PQTOdXuB-KCyQ/s1600/Trilogy+Love+Tree.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6wB2FQyVpoVeKcO4Iyhxmhwn_MloiKWjPqVXG_K4N71OvMWTgTpYje7Hrha_bpoRUfiPDae5WVR69ibh9Tg4Dyx-XkGsoczmmSKQg-TyDme41zr4RzwQbMnJB5PQTOdXuB-KCyQ/s1600/Trilogy+Love+Tree.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
And finally is a larger project for me. This is an older Cricket Collection that I picked up on vacation two years ago. It's Walk in the Woods and I tested out the DMC on a piece of R&R 18th Century Green that I have in my stash that I've been trying to use. I did some test stitching of the boarder and it's obvious the fabric is too dark. I switched to a piece of 32ct cream linen I had in my stash and hope to get started on this one soon.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
One thing I am going to try and do this year is keep a stitching journal. I have started out logging all of these projects with the fabric and fibers and will track the start and finish days and how I finish them. I never do this and I would like to see how long these projects take me to completed.<br />
<br />
I also hope to complete one of my WIPocolypse pieces as I've still got quite a few of these and I've manged to finish at least one each of the past two years. <br />
<br />
I also have several knitting and crochet projects planned but for now I'm in the mood to stitch so I shall. I find it to large so I've bought another skein to crochet it a smaller size. I loved this yarn and for the very inexpensive price, I was impressed. I found a cowl to crochet to match so I hope to knock that out too. I will donate this one so someone can put it to good use.<br />

And finally, another Cozy Cabled hat that I completed last night. Just in time for the arctic weather that is arriving overnight. We've had a really mild December so this will be seasonal weather but a still unwelcome reminder that we're just at the start of winter.<br />

Belated Merry Christmas greetings to those of you who celebrate that holiday!</div>
<br />
For the first time in the almost 10 years I've lived in Maine, I actually spent Christmas in Maine! Usually I got to family in NH but they were leaving very early on Christmas day to head to FL so we decided to get together when they come back and that worked out great for me.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyHhFwsGboSMsRZRaYtiIAfZms4kDo1ks0IEIrjHM7Tf7S_q1Q0VMx3wBD3fWjO2nnNP4JzkC0_7yojqf6gqApPuKxt6jR80G2ViuTS3XN3v2qIHfhUekjPveLWAHVJ8Dv9HxeeQ/s1600/Ready+to+wrap.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyHhFwsGboSMsRZRaYtiIAfZms4kDo1ks0IEIrjHM7Tf7S_q1Q0VMx3wBD3fWjO2nnNP4JzkC0_7yojqf6gqApPuKxt6jR80G2ViuTS3XN3v2qIHfhUekjPveLWAHVJ8Dv9HxeeQ/s1600/Ready+to+wrap.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
On Christmas eve, one of us was busy doing last minute wrapping. This was the pile of things that needed to be taken care of:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2lIiHpOYxYHvHsL0BPYjTHOlBzMsRGs8_Y_omg4CjWCONjMjWZ6WQwO9WkW7l-Ls2g5LlN3Eq9dZ21sbfwdQg1lh8-IBeG5IqQ2vW88jE5tlr1xNDAZoZYLoQJdm-7uMvMf9W5A/s1600/Christmas+Eve+relaxing.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2lIiHpOYxYHvHsL0BPYjTHOlBzMsRGs8_Y_omg4CjWCONjMjWZ6WQwO9WkW7l-Ls2g5LlN3Eq9dZ21sbfwdQg1lh8-IBeG5IqQ2vW88jE5tlr1xNDAZoZYLoQJdm-7uMvMf9W5A/s1600/Christmas+Eve+relaxing.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
And this was how Beau spent his Christmas Eve! Lazy hound dog.....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhErV9RmN5dxdN-vWLaLK4KCE-c5sdF-wmprzFGHNWRvLrxYxzBaNU8DehYCO21glmZOcDakX1NJ87E1ghrprjNrN23Ci8rkwVyLbDpIa8QZvCWTV0mnTJOGtcOO5PdfOdQ68Jg6g/s1600/Ready+for+Christmas+morning.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhErV9RmN5dxdN-vWLaLK4KCE-c5sdF-wmprzFGHNWRvLrxYxzBaNU8DehYCO21glmZOcDakX1NJ87E1ghrprjNrN23Ci8rkwVyLbDpIa8QZvCWTV0mnTJOGtcOO5PdfOdQ68Jg6g/s1600/Ready+for+Christmas+morning.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
I had all the ingredients we usually have for Christmas morning, cinnamon rolls and a breakfast casserole. Being on my own, it allowed me to try out a new recipe from Southern Living magazine - Cheesey Sausage and Croissant casserole. It was good!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF2PwdaDYIYOo3uaCcwGvuqFg9Zmu3U54iMAxbCRFo_5WTFrhQLFIJbmstFZBswgynLYpIvQcP6jNcHyhpwJcSSHrLtDGLJ0xTMS_dRpZrj_ds2wcffdbXU3IKuto3mHwJUI2cvA/s1600/Christmas+Breakfast+2014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF2PwdaDYIYOo3uaCcwGvuqFg9Zmu3U54iMAxbCRFo_5WTFrhQLFIJbmstFZBswgynLYpIvQcP6jNcHyhpwJcSSHrLtDGLJ0xTMS_dRpZrj_ds2wcffdbXU3IKuto3mHwJUI2cvA/s1600/Christmas+Breakfast+2014.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
I also had the makings for Mimosas on hand which are traditional in my family. Quite a nice way to get some Vitamin C!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUpgYMkbAZHPm3jYKslUX9-_4y5FsY9EqJvX4YHTFuuE3np3bZsdeuGT-L7XlTpeHQK85ZmzyfwsYbOXKUFgyNWdlYRpuquVzlZfqap9wMKyMKIfF6QTdRAfdRCgi9ftO-QdzQrw/s1600/Christmas+Mimosas.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUpgYMkbAZHPm3jYKslUX9-_4y5FsY9EqJvX4YHTFuuE3np3bZsdeuGT-L7XlTpeHQK85ZmzyfwsYbOXKUFgyNWdlYRpuquVzlZfqap9wMKyMKIfF6QTdRAfdRCgi9ftO-QdzQrw/s1600/Christmas+Mimosas.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
And after that I settled in to open a few gifts. A friend came by around noon and we went out to lunch at a local Chinese restaurant and then took a long walk in the ridiculously warm weather (53!!) with the dog.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgipnuIYU1UVJb97vrQqF3jPhbhpjhAXDeXkwuC-yaxysbH1e9v_Cc3-u-whbmm10iN9vEnP-aC-SA3xI_-vmknj9bpTVjAPB6t7V1IcCEdxR9NlBDu4hbHYCuEoJ00Z4BN2ou_Xw/s1600/Christmas+gifts.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgipnuIYU1UVJb97vrQqF3jPhbhpjhAXDeXkwuC-yaxysbH1e9v_Cc3-u-whbmm10iN9vEnP-aC-SA3xI_-vmknj9bpTVjAPB6t7V1IcCEdxR9NlBDu4hbHYCuEoJ00Z4BN2ou_Xw/s1600/Christmas+gifts.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
I hope that wherever you were and whoever you were with, you had a nice day.<br />
<br />
It's a rainy day here today so I'm planning to sort out what my stitching plans are and do some knitting which I will share tomorrow.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />Casa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11547550587801035688noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15647083.post-27848015985112661642014-12-23T19:48:00.001-05:002014-12-23T19:48:24.765-05:00Just in time finishLast night I put the finishing touches on the finishing for my niece's stitched gift. Do you ever know instantly how you're going to finish a piece as you start stitching it? That was how it went for me with this piece. I had a picture of what I wanted the finished piece to look like in my head almost immediately and I'm happy to say, it came out perfectly.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTcY2Qbec_Vjt5dFRAbdtdRRshgsat2cH6n5SDr-_reEEWb8imkQ4lqdGh2j9Zb6T9awW3A356scH7qpFWdDFwQcswT6nonoB_TLNvzkKlyXGUn9n3m9ygAr0dwqeLauG7-OfsOw/s1600/Finished+Front+12+23+14.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTcY2Qbec_Vjt5dFRAbdtdRRshgsat2cH6n5SDr-_reEEWb8imkQ4lqdGh2j9Zb6T9awW3A356scH7qpFWdDFwQcswT6nonoB_TLNvzkKlyXGUn9n3m9ygAr0dwqeLauG7-OfsOw/s1600/Finished+Front+12+23+14.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
When I started this piece, I wasn't jazzed about the DMC colors called for but as it got closer to being fully stitched, I was very happy with how it turned out. I think stitching it over one was the key to making me fall in love with it. I love the little owl!<br />
<br />
I took a series of photos to show the finishing stages: <br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
I debated whether or not to sew or glue on the cording and decided to go with glue. Usually glue + me = disaster but this time, I took the finishing in stages to minimize accidents and my own frustration and everything turned out happy. I hope my niece likes it!</div>

That is my last handmade gift so I can turn my thoughts to 2015 projects and boy, do I have a lot in mind!</div>

Working in the health care field, I often get to witness that for many, many of us, it is in fact a very sad and horrible time of year. Today was an especially hard day and I am struggling to focus on the positives of the holiday season. <br />
<br />
Please, please, please be kind to those you encounter this holiday season because your kindness can be unbelievable important and impact decisions you never know are being made all around you. <br />
<br />
Now that I've totally rained on your holiday spirit, I do have some positive Christmas gift progress to share.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtmYQbV8TrBcSYGGG4TquDBpt2d28h6ldUH5K689Itm9V8eGItQAsxWCkQtylg25Zmup2MJIJC88bjkfs2hyphenhyphenw9MwQBgyau4YHqHfrq8eVP8j8ulPQYlSnssR69ekedRziVxoSHug/s1600/Gigi+Gift+Stitch+Finish.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtmYQbV8TrBcSYGGG4TquDBpt2d28h6ldUH5K689Itm9V8eGItQAsxWCkQtylg25Zmup2MJIJC88bjkfs2hyphenhyphenw9MwQBgyau4YHqHfrq8eVP8j8ulPQYlSnssR69ekedRziVxoSHug/s1600/Gigi+Gift+Stitch+Finish.jpg" height="265" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I've finished the stitching on my neice's gift. I'm very ambivalent about the fact that there is a sort of bottom border and that it doesn't care around the rest of the piece. I debated completing it but just wanted to move on the the finishing part so I'm leaving it as is. Unless your comments make me change my mind before I tackle the finishing this weekend.... I plan to finish it as a little wall hanging piece with cording around the edges. Nothing too fancy or fussy I think.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGBRvfZg7lRbod2bE67C5-urSqzPOEssByDk6vi5lE7Vb9B9eGjykWwKQv23N6HK9jEgYDXwO-hajxxWaqpiS-aBz7QTU7nhLkXpJp4R1fmBXoCOKSgRoDc7eAyY7Vi4bZqwFMcQ/s1600/Mulie+Hat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGBRvfZg7lRbod2bE67C5-urSqzPOEssByDk6vi5lE7Vb9B9eGjykWwKQv23N6HK9jEgYDXwO-hajxxWaqpiS-aBz7QTU7nhLkXpJp4R1fmBXoCOKSgRoDc7eAyY7Vi4bZqwFMcQ/s1600/Mulie+Hat.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
And I've also managed to finish a hat for a friend. This took one skein of a super bulky yarn I found at Michael's and I have to say I think I'm going to grab another skein and make one for myself. It is very snug and warm and was very easy to knit.<br />
<br />
I hope wherever you are, that you are finding joy in your holiday preparations and celebrations!Casa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11547550587801035688noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15647083.post-81948367805211955442014-12-02T19:02:00.001-05:002014-12-02T19:02:23.441-05:00Sunday StitchingI actually have some stitching to show! I spent a large part of my Sunday sitting on my hiney in front of the TV watching stupid holiday movies on the Hallmark channel and then watching the Patriots lose. The good part of the day was I was able to get some stitching done on what I hope to be a Christmas present.<br />

Now that it's December 2nd, I really need to pick up the pace. There's one more line and a small border and then I need to figure out how I want to finish it and get 'er done.<br /><br />Casa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11547550587801035688noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15647083.post-55516223281378966502014-11-30T19:23:00.000-05:002014-11-30T19:23:49.345-05:00Holiday WeekendI hope everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving had a good day on Thursday. We lost power at 9:30pmon Wednesday at my sister's due to this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiR8lX2ohBcdD3cS9WPvemIpn0QIgn68O0VhWsigk9KjdBcEMGhRt-xQpD2s_IzSBQeNboJBlaHaQsi8l1m5Ubmx3WWoOHmU_L2c3qpECViU4-9VQWF7Hof1qlRGpQFUkb13mvL0Q/s1600/Thanksgiving+2014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiR8lX2ohBcdD3cS9WPvemIpn0QIgn68O0VhWsigk9KjdBcEMGhRt-xQpD2s_IzSBQeNboJBlaHaQsi8l1m5Ubmx3WWoOHmU_L2c3qpECViU4-9VQWF7Hof1qlRGpQFUkb13mvL0Q/s1600/Thanksgiving+2014.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
Luckily I got up early on Wednesday and was there before it started snowing. It was pretty but treacherous. Thank goodness they have a generator because they did not have power back until late Saturday afternoon.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLKD6BwQ-phkCu-w88uVY8BamTDGifoolgCO3vTKWlvU8KUaOYp-NUubVG_zMyRJRRxDOO_L1W9jsDp84Mq1TeNF8lj77FNCguuOL5mcJQv0WhOu1xiuPwwopsBYNbLgJaSxugPg/s1600/Thursday+AM+Thanksgiving.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLKD6BwQ-phkCu-w88uVY8BamTDGifoolgCO3vTKWlvU8KUaOYp-NUubVG_zMyRJRRxDOO_L1W9jsDp84Mq1TeNF8lj77FNCguuOL5mcJQv0WhOu1xiuPwwopsBYNbLgJaSxugPg/s1600/Thursday+AM+Thanksgiving.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
This was the view out of one of my sister's windows. The snow was wet and heavy causing a lot of broken branches and downed power lines. Operating off a generator was interesting. We fried our turkey as usual and luckily everything worked out well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This is a photo from one of the times the generator ran out of gas and before my BIL refilled the tank.<br />

I headed home on Friday so that I could attend the tree lighting in town on Saturday. This was my first time being around for it and it was cold, cold cold! <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I walked down and left right after the lights went on. Many stayed to chat with Santa and ice skate at the pavilion in town.<br />

It was a nice start for the holiday season. My decorations are out and I'm paging through magazines for the perfect cookie recipe!Casa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11547550587801035688noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15647083.post-13401714294673224422014-11-23T19:30:00.000-05:002014-11-23T19:30:13.463-05:00Sunday SummaryI don't have any cross stitch progress to show you but I have made some crochet headway on both my wrap and Special Olympics scarf projects.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ4BRhnV2P8xXxHH5cOsBB8ZYvm1cR3YdHcE-viwEzHJVntI7PQP0bjD_MLuEuwUodQsrkGayfkebjHjc_pL0-9kVsZOWWPl_oOb3PtW5Lvo4wQ7qtufiMRvPCBCbPPL3IL2gawQ/s1600/IMG_1400.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ4BRhnV2P8xXxHH5cOsBB8ZYvm1cR3YdHcE-viwEzHJVntI7PQP0bjD_MLuEuwUodQsrkGayfkebjHjc_pL0-9kVsZOWWPl_oOb3PtW5Lvo4wQ7qtufiMRvPCBCbPPL3IL2gawQ/s1600/IMG_1400.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm just kind of making my own pattern for the scarf using half-double crochet. I an not a fan of the red and orange together so I decided to band them together with the green and have been happier with the way the project looks.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg62qe-ro2PKMdXnnpSiXhlzqnZEbeUHmkUhfaZyVZRpthH3SEPe3RGkBcNnqRbwfhyphenhyphenFRgtI8r1JLP0EnlwLrsU-VaFHAROzbNmcThVtLHO6WF8StHgZs4EWKniVJqeQNcp45XFkA/s1600/IMG_1401.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg62qe-ro2PKMdXnnpSiXhlzqnZEbeUHmkUhfaZyVZRpthH3SEPe3RGkBcNnqRbwfhyphenhyphenFRgtI8r1JLP0EnlwLrsU-VaFHAROzbNmcThVtLHO6WF8StHgZs4EWKniVJqeQNcp45XFkA/s1600/IMG_1401.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
And I managed to put a few more rows into the wrap pattern while I was doing laundry this weekend. I'm only working two days this week so I hope to get time to work on both projects during the Thanksgiving holiday and over the weekend.<br />
<br />
After a very cold and windy week, we had a wonderful, sunny day in the 50s so I took advantage and spent quite a bit of time outdoors. Beau and I took a very long walk and then I vacuumed my car and switched the floor mats for the winter weather version. I hope wherever you are, you enjoyed your Sunday! <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The goal is to receive 500 scarves for the participants to wear during the games. There are specific colors to be used and today, my box arrived from Joanne Fabrics. I'm by no means a fast knitter but I do hope I can get at least one each done and mailed out in time.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.specialolympicsmaine.org/documents/SCARFPROJECT2015Flyer.pdf" target="_blank">This link will take you to the flyer </a>that lists the specific colors they are asking for. I'm sure it would be even more special if they received scarves from outside Maine. Hint, hint, hint!Casa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11547550587801035688noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15647083.post-85454839576776367672014-11-09T19:21:00.000-05:002014-11-09T19:21:31.141-05:00Growing on meI've been able to devote some time to my cross stitch project and it's starting to grow on me now that I have more colors put in as Laura commented. I think the fact that it's over one also charms me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLpDQZJBBFFputZ2ld7FNhjv88TLEJlDDNaoIkRRZQMti77RpbaaX2PMtPmM-U4n5ZgaDnE0s5nNzX9LpGNi0FwI02AURAdV8SV-89l_Gf2e_2461SZEP17Kro02fTRx4BwCFajw/s1600/IMG_1396.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLpDQZJBBFFputZ2ld7FNhjv88TLEJlDDNaoIkRRZQMti77RpbaaX2PMtPmM-U4n5ZgaDnE0s5nNzX9LpGNi0FwI02AURAdV8SV-89l_Gf2e_2461SZEP17Kro02fTRx4BwCFajw/s1600/IMG_1396.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
In addition to growth on this project, I started another yarn project. My fingers were itching to start something new so I dug through my stash and decided to start this very simple crochet shrug I'd downloaded from Lion Brand a few years ago.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKL9gUkVDMyFDYFtRp5ed_qSit_k0SV-qigmm_CdHoidaPmSNFdsfBp72fOOKF6b7yM4IestjtNfn1RysGGp6y4ghmuiIVh83fma4Jeyn2hBYhW1Vj1vHG2G23O6KxmuayE_fs4g/s1600/IMG_1397.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKL9gUkVDMyFDYFtRp5ed_qSit_k0SV-qigmm_CdHoidaPmSNFdsfBp72fOOKF6b7yM4IestjtNfn1RysGGp6y4ghmuiIVh83fma4Jeyn2hBYhW1Vj1vHG2G23O6KxmuayE_fs4g/s1600/IMG_1397.JPG" height="296" width="320" /></a></div>
I bought the yarn it called for in the color way shown so I'm using Lion Brand Tweed Stripes in the Woodlands colorway, It feels really good to be working from stashed yarn that's been in my yarn storage for at least 4 years! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNG96uq-8p9aEut5W9k0lQNZ3LnlGa9An8ma_AUT-KPlqwyamlTYFgFmhgPt8ZqUWfxHPOB5TD8Pzyiry08JsTEbJGxvlJBgZS7v5dlwAFjQ7agygmwipzdi33jlEBAUUjkW5Shw/s1600/IMG_1398.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNG96uq-8p9aEut5W9k0lQNZ3LnlGa9An8ma_AUT-KPlqwyamlTYFgFmhgPt8ZqUWfxHPOB5TD8Pzyiry08JsTEbJGxvlJBgZS7v5dlwAFjQ7agygmwipzdi33jlEBAUUjkW5Shw/s1600/IMG_1398.JPG" height="269" width="320" /></a></div>
It's the perfect project for watching TV as it's single crochet in the back loop until you reach the given size and then it's just seamed together. Perfect for watching The Voice tomorrow night!<br />
<br />
I hope you had a great weekend and that your Monday is a smooth one!<br />

I was very productive on Sunday and that extra hour meant I had no excuse for not doing some work on what I hope will be a Christmas present - this year.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOAQuNALsuULM2nm1cOh_XONtJv0yopWwZbO8bZ2saCHvLem2V44zW6RL1XXXzQei9ISZO3lJ2FNJdyrFXtqa15zsgse1pIEEDefPQ0vPrf03cemUg_61AwPPYucsPou49-H-WYA/s1600/11.2.14+LK+Progress.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOAQuNALsuULM2nm1cOh_XONtJv0yopWwZbO8bZ2saCHvLem2V44zW6RL1XXXzQei9ISZO3lJ2FNJdyrFXtqa15zsgse1pIEEDefPQ0vPrf03cemUg_61AwPPYucsPou49-H-WYA/s1600/11.2.14+LK+Progress.JPG" height="272" width="320" /></a></div>
<span id="goog_500559111"></span><span id="goog_500559112"></span><br />
Here is where I started. This was supposed to be a graduation gift but I'm moving a little slow - as usual. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYPyR7eKME1EBTquY9v0CW1TyUZ11B0b8R4JU_MOQuBVWqNc6b9pW7qSnv4Ck1BCgG_5NwUOV7Hd6gYP90QYNRFjnv29RPMPsNWcm9lo43dXHTv7kkxcuDXj52hlS-gwHqytlRdQ/s1600/11.4.14.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYPyR7eKME1EBTquY9v0CW1TyUZ11B0b8R4JU_MOQuBVWqNc6b9pW7qSnv4Ck1BCgG_5NwUOV7Hd6gYP90QYNRFjnv29RPMPsNWcm9lo43dXHTv7kkxcuDXj52hlS-gwHqytlRdQ/s1600/11.4.14.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And here's where I left off on Sunday evening. Not bad progress. I'm using DMC and stitching over one on some 30 ct. I had in my stash. I don' t love the colors but I was in a hurry to get going and just used what was called for rather than dig through my stash to find something I liked better. Now as I look at it, I wish I hadn't been so lazy. However, I'm not frogging over one so it's either going to be finished as is or I'll scrap it and start over. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0yvIBX31gJMEN6Kxf1StdrSfCEp-p80eJ0StpHHvdKzQqWYQSoVX_VbOfCcXyoN2qYwZQOsk4uUWvFWeJpiVPop3cFhRZIClu7peHWXnR0W68ngdTJ9yNypxYLqrWjnsI52Wjpw/s1600/11.2.14.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0yvIBX31gJMEN6Kxf1StdrSfCEp-p80eJ0StpHHvdKzQqWYQSoVX_VbOfCcXyoN2qYwZQOsk4uUWvFWeJpiVPop3cFhRZIClu7peHWXnR0W68ngdTJ9yNypxYLqrWjnsI52Wjpw/s1600/11.2.14.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I also took a picture of my PS All Hallow's Eve which obviously didn't get completed in time for Halloween this year as I had planned. But there's always next year!<br />
<br />
I should stitch on it some more this evening but my fingers are itching to start a new knitting project. If I manage to decide which one to start, I might have something to show later this week.Casa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11547550587801035688noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15647083.post-89625439421709067712014-11-02T11:16:00.000-05:002014-11-02T11:16:08.664-05:00Winter has arrivedThis is the current view out of my office/craft space window unfortunately. It's a good thing my knitting needles have been busy. About a month ago, I visited <a href="http://www.cascobayfibers.com/" target="_blank">Casco Bay Fibers</a> in Freeport for the first time to look for some yarn for a hat one of my nieces requested. I found a beautiful gray in Cascade 128 but also fell in love with this tealy-green yarn from Skacel called <a href="http://www.skacelknitting.com/s.nl/sc.2/category.262988/.f" target="_blank">Simplinatural by HiKoo.</a> <br />

The shop had a sample <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lowbrow-hat" target="_blank">Lowbrow Hat and Cowl</a> made up and I made the mistake of feeling and trying it on. I didn't realize the price per skein until I hit the counter but by that time, I was sold. This was a great yarn to work with and the two pieces are cozy and perfect for the weather.<br />

Just yesterday afternoon, I finished the cowl to match the hat I completed earlier. And the cable knit hat I made for my niece didn't take the second skein I thought it would so I knit one for myself for dog walking.<br />

I hope you remembered to set your clocks back an hour. I'm going to take advantage of the extra hour to do some cross stitching which as been in very short supply around here lately. <br /><br />
<br />Casa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11547550587801035688noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15647083.post-3902837396731266462014-09-11T19:06:00.002-04:002014-09-11T19:06:49.594-04:00Heading toward the finish lineI have some progress to share on the two major things I've been working on over the last month or so. First up is my Lotus Blossom tank. My goal was to complete it in time to wear it this year but I don't think that's going to happen. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcJ8t7w66eKJxbQkveUmipgczSnzVAv0JYVc1563oDagCXW6bByaOgxiLzbBQOXnZPD1uQP2m0MznFZnGf1Wr8fYk2VlyISLcx0_2oVhLTyk02ooekhEn0US_LfqsTCzeZDGoKuw/s1600/IMG_1383.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcJ8t7w66eKJxbQkveUmipgczSnzVAv0JYVc1563oDagCXW6bByaOgxiLzbBQOXnZPD1uQP2m0MznFZnGf1Wr8fYk2VlyISLcx0_2oVhLTyk02ooekhEn0US_LfqsTCzeZDGoKuw/s1600/IMG_1383.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
The major knitting was completed at the end of August and then last weekend I finally got it blocked. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOnLGZDI4lNr5hWBUVh4cUdemlbkOH5La0_Hs02Qyh-MkhaEDQvzYQsDXQBErBdbPVv1-FZ4NKJ2TG5k-axZQ1yoXpDpFwjVbLmwshZykYvVDjtKrzUboswm35sBIt6vjtPFhbpw/s1600/IMG_1384.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOnLGZDI4lNr5hWBUVh4cUdemlbkOH5La0_Hs02Qyh-MkhaEDQvzYQsDXQBErBdbPVv1-FZ4NKJ2TG5k-axZQ1yoXpDpFwjVbLmwshZykYvVDjtKrzUboswm35sBIt6vjtPFhbpw/s1600/IMG_1384.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
Now I need to join the pointy ends and finish the armholes and neckline and then it will be totally complete. However, the weather has turned decidedly fallish so I doubt I'd wear it this year unless I put something under it. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvioY8TedhMiVGmUUzuzfJQ0vL0k46xqHbXYfGrWQxVgRjMTpM2Ppn3jQjOGs7UOT94nxZg1XV41XKZPjYzh1PyUwTGsU9yhgrKKjb6kQwzIlPqVydtOl0SVYziV-hV3Kt4ClIDg/s1600/9+8+14.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvioY8TedhMiVGmUUzuzfJQ0vL0k46xqHbXYfGrWQxVgRjMTpM2Ppn3jQjOGs7UOT94nxZg1XV41XKZPjYzh1PyUwTGsU9yhgrKKjb6kQwzIlPqVydtOl0SVYziV-hV3Kt4ClIDg/s1600/9+8+14.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And then there is my PS All Hallow's Eve. I've made a bit more progress since I took this photo but not enough to take another picture. I would guestimate I'm about 3/4 of the way through. Casa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11547550587801035688noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15647083.post-2999246179838902682014-08-19T19:25:00.003-04:002014-08-19T19:25:43.980-04:00Seasonal signsIt was 45 degrees when I got up this morning. We've had a much cooler August that I ever remember with temps in the 70s and very few making it into the 80s. It feels strange and it's got everyone worried it will be an early winter. Even if I do managed to finish my Lotus Blossom tank by the end of the month, I think it might be too cool to wear it!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsB_kocbvYjwEM5EGCv_-gOfZzSyp-wmhJZWHuJBs3jnoAyT8BVWtCZDMIJoXuD5DWDHTkSJT527i7LwkxOZmNcRMBiRPNbnnDOuX6aEZjLoJfJj1zpfHePHaKMIpcZZPqIj8U-g/s1600/IMG_1377.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsB_kocbvYjwEM5EGCv_-gOfZzSyp-wmhJZWHuJBs3jnoAyT8BVWtCZDMIJoXuD5DWDHTkSJT527i7LwkxOZmNcRMBiRPNbnnDOuX6aEZjLoJfJj1zpfHePHaKMIpcZZPqIj8U-g/s1600/IMG_1377.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
There are lots of these dropping all over the place and I'm really starting to see the leaves of the maples turning on my way to work. Can I just say I'm not ready for that yet?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK2PMTnnwrIE9WWZaRtLGAw71zm7Kov-jDyMNow-cMttCfRuuo7nNNAKvfGqDycZQFhbUGHl3dAEhvxJJV41iwp_mSY_wjDRCnPouYIQ9-WaMrLRXdMVX5rAz7bDx-IDGbul1HUA/s1600/IMG_1369.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK2PMTnnwrIE9WWZaRtLGAw71zm7Kov-jDyMNow-cMttCfRuuo7nNNAKvfGqDycZQFhbUGHl3dAEhvxJJV41iwp_mSY_wjDRCnPouYIQ9-WaMrLRXdMVX5rAz7bDx-IDGbul1HUA/s1600/IMG_1369.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
However, I am getting ready for my favorite fall holiday! I picked this up on my way back from Cape Cod a few weeks ago in the hopes that it would get my stitching mojo going again. I love Halloween stitching. It didn't work immediately but last week I picked up a UFO and started stitching again. <br />
<br />

This is PS All Hallow's Eve where I left off the last time I was working on it (can't remember when that was!).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCJNSbgWvgcQkpv0Z9u4DQNP212j53uR4RKUTcHtd1WxEecpr5pPxsfTBDht_CtbnrRNid2R8JIzpNS-ZnX8zhkcm-wsJtycAZSWt0uXkvcZiUhq7lq2Culci9gfGM1vI2IqNfEA/s1600/IMG_1375.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCJNSbgWvgcQkpv0Z9u4DQNP212j53uR4RKUTcHtd1WxEecpr5pPxsfTBDht_CtbnrRNid2R8JIzpNS-ZnX8zhkcm-wsJtycAZSWt0uXkvcZiUhq7lq2Culci9gfGM1vI2IqNfEA/s1600/IMG_1375.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And here is where I am after some weekend stitching. Tonight I need to give my knitting some attention but this one is tempting me to keep going so it can be framed and ready for Halloween - this year!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_6Rwv3jvBJBH9tK_M0JyxRGg0nCic8_DIKue53yjaJS32GEGlbPBXllbwjd0tH5WpOctGg1370r_I2pcNg8_cSFzBmgfHxdOKOTUdSBOasfdNpBCYlXfJ6g8A1m_UUG4wfVaXBg/s1600/IMG_1373.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_6Rwv3jvBJBH9tK_M0JyxRGg0nCic8_DIKue53yjaJS32GEGlbPBXllbwjd0tH5WpOctGg1370r_I2pcNg8_cSFzBmgfHxdOKOTUdSBOasfdNpBCYlXfJ6g8A1m_UUG4wfVaXBg/s1600/IMG_1373.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
On another note, some of us are a bit under the weather. Beau had an emergency vet visit on Friday because he couldn't sit down and was carrying his tail like it was broken. Turns out I'm the worst pet mom ever because he had several different issues going on that I was clueless about and required some medications and the dreaded collar to prevent him from further aggravating the hotspot on his tail. <br />
<br />
He looks so pitiful and I didn't last long with him making him wear the collar. He's doing much better but I think his feelings are quite hurt at being made to look so embarrassing. Casa Pearlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11547550587801035688noreply@blogger.com6
