A,B, C, next is D!

Here is an updated picture of my CHS Alphabet piece. I've completed C and worked on the border to bring it along even with my progress. There are flowers attached to each flat spot but I'm still undecided as to the colors I want to stitch so I will hold off until I have more of the letters stitched and then decide what I want to do. This piece continues to be a pleasure to work on and I will either start D tonight or start the new Essy's Friends piece. Which ever calls the strongest will be worked on.

I'm also including a photo of my minimal progress on my HAED Storey Keeper. I'm following Nicki's method of leaving the thread in the next hole. I am working over and down at this point and trying to find a method that works best for me. It's a big piece of fabric so it's a bit awkward to work with. I'm also using the hair clips Nicki recommended and rolling the extra fabric up and clipping it with the hair clip. I need to remember to take them out when I'm finished working for the day which I forgot to do on Sunday.

Oh they both look lovely! Storykeeper is great already - I can see the branches of the trees :) So glad you're doing this one - it's a beautiful picture.

By the way, what colour are you using for the CHS border so far?

Great progress on your CHS alphabet piece!! Did you do the border on your own or can you find the pattern somewhere? I can't wait to see more progress!

Glad to see such nice progress! I, too, think Nicki's approach with the threads makes a lot of sense!

Great progress the Carriage House alphabet looks like it would be fun to stitch. This new method on your other piece is interesting I will watch for your comments on how it is going. Happy Stitching, CJ

Hair clips?! That's BRILLIANT! I've really been at a loss of what to do with the big sections of fabric, now that I've finally dared start some larger projects. Thanks!

PS: I ordered more bittersweet skeins. I hope that'll be enough?

Barbara, I meant to email you about the Bittersweet. I have a ten yard package so I'm thinking that will be enough. I'm not sure they make those anymore but two 5 yards should be enough I would think since it's one strand.

Nicki, I'm using Black Crow for the border.

Leslie, the border was provided by Kathy Barrick of CHS. It is charted with the letter blocks, the border and two other signature blocks at the bottom to even out the picture and give the option of personalization. She sent it to me free of charge.

Hi Patti,
Your CHS Alphabet piece looks amazing! That is going to be a real stunner when you are finished!
Great start with the Story Keeper. I am perplexed on how that whole parking method works... something yet to learn. It does look a bit confusing to me - LOL!

Hi Patti...I've been lurking on your blog for a couple of weeks and enjoy your postings. Your pictures of Maine brings back memories of my Mom's Summer cottage in Wells Beach she had in the 80's. As far as extra fabric goes...I snagged a couple of large binder clips from work...those funky metal things used like paper clips but hold more...they work as well. The hair clips would probably be a little lighter in weight especially if you suffer from any kind of carpal tunnel syndrome though. Nice work on the alphabet.
